The Goalball
A Goalball is roughly basketball sized but of a much harder construction. It is made from rubber and contains noise bells and small holes. They are IBSA regulated and used at all levels of competition. The most common place to get them from the UK is the RNIB.
Eyeshades
Most commonly these are made from old or scratched ski goggles that are modified with tape and foam inserted. There are in some instances (but unfortunately not as common in the UK) specialized eyeshades made for goalball.
Goals
There are only 5 sets of goals in the UK as they tend to be expensive and in most instances very bulky.
Padding for the players
We have compiled a little list of the padding commonly used - OK, the padding used by me! There are lots of variations out there but with a complete lack of objectivity here goes:
Padding for elbows & knees
Help to absorb the shock of repeatedly sliding along the floor. Commonly used for volleyball, but also good for making sure you aren't bruised the next day!
Trousers
There are two types out there, and i guess it depends on which you prefer. The most often used are standard goalkeeper trousers with the padding on the hip and knees. I find using these i have less need to wear knee padding.
The newest idea is running trousers. They provide much greater flexibility though i am scared that there is not enough padding. I have tested them, i will continue the research!

The chest factor....
Its fairly obvious that the female chest is going to take quite a battering by playing goalball! To counter this we women usually wear a chest plate that is otherwise used in martial arts. it is essentially a plastic sheet that is shaped and can either be fitted inside a vest or can come with its own straps (the vest option is advised!)
The male alternative....
Well, i don't know too much on this subject but a cricket box is certainly advised!!!
